grown, unrefined shea butter. Shea butter is the oil from the nuts of
wild shea trees scattered throughout the wooded savanna of West and
Central Africa. It has become a popular skin care ingredient. Alaffia
has direct involvement in the entire process – from gathering the wild
shea nuts and crafting the butter, to distribution locally and abroad -
their employees receive fair and steady incomes. Besides unrefined shea butters, Alaffia offers
soaps, lotions and hair care made with it.

are also part of the Empowerment Alliance, which means that 10% of
sales will go directly back to the community in the form of community
